Planning your first-ever camping trip can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re traveling with kids. But when you’re heading to Akron-Canton Jellystone Park™, you’re in good hands. This article offers tips for first-time campers to help you feel confident and prepared. Whether you’re pitching a tent, backing in an RV, or staying in one of our cozy cabins, this guide will help make your first visit smooth, fun, and memorable.

Choose the Right Lodging Option

Akron-Canton Jellystone Park offers several lodging options to fit different comfort levels and budgets. All campsites come with a fire ring and picnic table and include access to park amenities.

  • Tent Sites are great for budget-conscious campers who enjoy a more rustic experience.
  • RV Sites come in a range of layouts, from standard back-in spots to our luxury Presidential Back-In Site, which includes a covered pavilion, outdoor TV, grill, kitchenette, and a private dog kennel.
  • Cabins are a popular option, especially for families who prefer climate control and beds. Note: cabins are not pet-friendly and book quickly during peak season, so we recommend reserving well in advance.

Practice Parking Your RV

If you’re new to RV camping, take time to practice backing into a spot before you arrive. It will make your check-in process faster and help reduce stress. Our park offers full hookup options and helpful signage, but arriving during daylight hours makes setup easier. Bring leveling blocks and double-check your hoses and cords before you leave home.
